The project from School of Foreign Languages, Tongji University won the special prize of the 17th “Challenge Cup” Shanghai Final

At about 3 pm on May 10th, the award ceremony of the 17th “Challenge Cup” Shanghai College Students Entrepreneurship Competition Final was held at Shanghai University of Electric Power. The project “Problems and Countermeasures of External Communication of the Red Culture of the Communist Party of China-Investigation and Research Based on the English Translation in the Holy Land of Revolution” conducted by “Hong Se Ji Yi” Team from SFL won the special prize of this competition.

Relying on SFL’s study on the construction of China’s international discourse system, “Hong Se Ji Yi” Team visited red revolutionary holy lands and memorials, and investigated their English translations. By correcting translation and textual errors, the project team summarized principles, standards and methods of English translation of red culture, summed up the feasible model of external communication of red culture, and provided universal suggestions for its translation and communication. On this basis, the team further studied how to make good use of the existing revolutionary cultural resources to translate, and how to transcend language differences, cultural barriers and ideological barriers to dig deeper into the spiritual connotation of revolutionary culture, so as to show the image of the Communist Party of China to the world. The research results of the project have been reported by major media such as,, CCTV International Online, the National University Ideological & Political Work Network and so on.
